The Master of Ceremonies, the Entertainer and the Band

Michael Pope as Master of Ceremonies - A versatile entertainer for over 25 years, with more strings to his bow than a lead violinist

With his training and emphasis on improvisation and flexibility, Michael has mastered the ability to read an audience and deliver exactly what they want at the right time. He has performed for everyone from the ‘man off the street’ - to the Prime Minister, and is very conscious to treat them all the same; with respect and appreciation, so that everyone feels included. Michael has taken the skills of performance to a new level of wit and improvisation in his work. With more than 19 years as the television industry's first choice in Audience Warmup, he has honed the ability to engage an audience and make them feel comfortable. Whether it's the black-tie glitterati of The Logies, or the teenage mob from Dancing With The Stars, Michael has a unique ability to keep a night moving, involving and unexpected.

Denise Scott - One of Australia’s leading ladies of comedy.  Her popularity has no equal with TV work on Spicks and Specks, The Glass House, Rove Live and more recently with Vega 91.5 Breakfast Show and the 7PM Project on Chanel 10.

Denise Scott has been treading the boards for longer than she cares to remember, but it is this wealth of experience that makes her one the country's strongest live comic performers. Since the early 1980's, Scotty has been making people laugh with her blend of personal stories and topical observations.

Bob Valentine's band.  - "One of Melbourne's very best performers and bands". You are guaranteed a good time.  The band consisted of excellent musicians as well as great entertainers who actually have fun with their audience. Bob has enjoyed the privilege of supporting Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, the five sold-out Stevie Wonder shows and the legendary Jerry Lewis on both his visits to Australia.

This important event provided an opportunity to honor the achievements of our industry and to recognise the sponsors and individuals who support the newsagency industry (and your business).

Organising such an event is a colossal task involving a tremendous number of hours of work. It is organised to offer the industry the opportunity to shine and be recognised by newsagents, suppliers and general public as a proud industry.

It was held at one of Melbourne finest establishments, the Sofitel Melbourne On Collins and packed with immense class entertainment.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors, ticket prices were kept extremely low this year, from just $95 per head for newsagents.  This included a full three course meal, beer, wine, soft drink and all entertainment.  This was exceptional value well below cost.
