An Essential Role Full of Vital News

NEWSAGENTS have assured customers it’s business us usual when it comes to popping in to pick up anything from your daily newspaper to gift cards and lottery tickets.

Tony Parissi runs the Templestowe Newsagency and while his shop remains open after being deemed an essential service by the government, some customers are reluctant to shop due to COVID-19.He said his business maintained strict hygiene standards to ensure customers and staff were safe.

“We’re still open and as an essential service, we need to be.” Mr Parissi said, “We wash our hands regularly and wipe down the benches as often as we can -we’re doing what we can to make sure the shop is clean.”

The Herald Sun has provided newsagents and contractors with advice, with handling newspapers deemed totally safe by experts.
