Australia’s biggest jackpotting game just got a whole lot bigger. Following last night’s draw, the Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an unprecedented $150 million!

We’re in uncharted territory now folks. Never before has an Australian lottery prize of this size been offered and we’re bracing ourselves for a frenetic week in the lead up to the next draw.

But before we get too caught up in the energy and buzz of the next week, we’re taking a quick jump back in time to last night.

It was only 24 hours ago that we had no idea what the draw would hold, and we were eagerly waiting to see if we would be crowning the country’s newest multi-millionaire.

As the countdown was on until the draw closed, Aussies all across the country were on their way home for the day but not without making sure they had a chance to be part of history. At 4:59pm, there was a frenzy in store and online as 5,167 tickets were sold in the span of 60 seconds.

The data showed a fairly even split between players who choose to play a marked entry or a QuickPick. 52% left it to chance by having the lottery terminal randomly generate the numbers on their entry, while 47% marked their own numbers using special numbers they hoped would deliver them a multi-million dollar prize.

Of course, the numbers that mattered the most in this highly anticipated draw were the ones that came out of the barrels. One by one the numbers that would chart a new course for Australian Lotteries were revealed.

Those numbers drawn in last night’s Powerball draw 1217, were 27, 28, 10, 20, 11, 30, 31.

The all-important Powerball number was 2.

For the eighth consecutive week, no entry held all seven winning numbers plus that crucial Powerball number needed to take out division one. And so, history was made. The jackpot soared into unknown realms and skyrocketed to a massive $150 million.

While no entries scored the division one prize, a total of 2,760,732 prizes worth more than $50.23 million were won in divisions two to nine, including eight division two winners who each took home a prize of $173,767.85!

With $150 million up for grabs next week, we’re sure people all over the country are dreaming of the possibilities that could come with a Powerball windfall.

Only time will tell what the future holds for this record-breaking jackpot!
