Victoria 7-day lockdown – updated information

As announced by the Victorian Government this morning, from 11.59 pm tonight, Thursday 27 May, Victoria will enter a 7-day circuit-breaker lockdown.

Authorised businesses under Victoria’s circuit-breaker restrictions

The following businesses can open under circuit breaker restrictions. If their employees are unable to work from home they can leave home to attend work.

  • A supermarket, grocery store, bakery, butcher, fruit and vegetable store or fishmonger; or
  • an indoor or outdoor market, but only to obtain groceries or fresh food; or
  • a restaurant, café, pub, bar, or hotel, whether licensed or unlicensed, but only to the extent that:
    • it provides takeaway meals or drinks or a meal delivery service; or
    • it provides food, drink, accommodation, or other essential services to those seeking shelter (for example, for reasons of homelessness or family violence); or
  • a bottle shop; or
  • a financial institution; or
  • consular and diplomatic services; or
  • the court, tribunal, or commission services;
  • a post office; or
  • a newsagent; or
  • a pharmacy; or
  • a petrol station (including a petrol station that sells groceries); or
  • vehicle and mechanical repair services; or
  • construction; or
  • a pet store; or
  • a veterinary clinic, and related services (on-farm visits and animal care services) where there is a genuine animal welfare issue, or for the purposes of artificial
  • insemination; or
  • an abattoir, meat, seafood, or poultry processing plant; or
  • urgent services necessary for the health and safety of any person, animal, or premises; or
  • immunisation or vaccination services; or
  • essential child protection activities; or
  • a childcare, early learning centre, kindergarten, preschool, or family daycare provider; or
  • a primary or secondary school; or
  • a boarding school; or
  • a ‘click and collect’ service; or
  • a locksmith’s; or
  • a community facility (for click and collect only); or
  • carparks for the purposes of supporting an Authorised Provider or Authorised Worker; or
  • labor-hire when servicing an Authorised Provider; or
  • laundry and dry cleaners; or
  • commercial cleaners

State border closures with Victoria

Western Australia has introduced a hard border with Victoria following the evolving COVID-19 situation and outbreak, effective from 10.00 am, Thursday, 27 May 2021, see https://www.wa.gov.au/government/announcements/wa-introduces-hard-border-victoria

Tasmania has declared Victoria an area of high risk from 2:00 pm today, after which time people who have been in Victoria in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Tasmania unless approved as an Essential Traveller. South Australia announced that effective from 6:00 pm 26 May 2021 any person who has been in Greater Melbourne any time in the 14 days prior to their intended arrival (but not before Thursday 20 May 2021) is not permitted to enter South Australia. Queensland: Everyone arriving from Victoria is now required to complete a border pass. Anyone of those arrivals who has been in the City of Whittlesea local government area on or since 11 May and are a non-resident will be turned away unless they have an exemption to enter the state. Queensland residents or those given an exemption to enter the state will go into hotel quarantine. See https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/government-actions/border-closing

New South Wales: A COVID-19 concerns notice is in effect for Victoria. Greater Melbourne and the City of Greater Bendigo have been identified as affected areas and there are places of high concern. See https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules/interstate-hotspots
